Trevor Abes

Trevor Steven Abes was born in Scarborough, Ontario on May 13th, 1988. He has been seriously writing for about 7 years now, initiating with song lyrics, then progressing towards poetry, aphorisms, and short stories. He will be attending the University of Toronto next year, majoring in English Literature, hopefully being accepted into Victoria College. This past November, Trevor and a few friends started a poetry group called Mnemosyne, already on their third recital, their first book of poetry and prose will be published early next year at the sum of a humble 200 copies.

Trevor is an admirer of recently deceased Chilean author Roberto Bolaño, Jack Kerouac and all the beat generation, William Blake without a doubt, and from a philosophical viewpoint Jacques Derrida and his writings on deconstruction.

Trevor has been published in each issue of Sage of Consciousness and in Re: Verse at www.youngpoets.ca; truthfully, he has lost count of the times other magazines have sent rejections his way, but up and coming writers get that a lot. He is currently reading Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig.

To write, Trevor needs only two things other than pencil and paper: Music- preferably some Jamie Cullum- and something to drink, coffee or tea does just fine. He is currently working on a critical essay, against a Mexican author by the name of Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez, a man who once wrote a novel simply as a pretext to include sex-ed info in it, some kind of literary manual for teenagers: This book, titled Youth in Ecstasy, has been a bestseller for many years.
