Hoodoo Voodoo (Haiti)

Beggars as abundant as filth
Pesky houseflies assaulting mucous membrane
Ticklish scorched hairs clogging nostrils
Trapped within stuffed up sinus

Oil drum rooftops reverberate percussion
Overflowing alleyway puddles oozing oil
Sequin rainbow chasing own tail
Spellbound voodoo possessed soulless barter

Strutting roosters wrung neck sacrifices
Slashed throats otherworldly ancestral reunion
Ritualistic ceremonial offering shadowy phantoms
Plucked feathers carved phallic charms

Enticing cobwebs cringing in corners
Combative spiders diseased tsetse victims
Male horseflies sip nectar pollen
High Priestess females suck blood

Shantytown life or death struggle
Smarmy pushcart hagglers peddling wares
Wantonness laced with addictive riffs
Desperate for quick mainliner fix

Frangible matchbox shacks warped cardboard
Abrasive sulfur sticks rattling inside
Assembly line rejects makeshift rows
Stacked atop each otherwise engaged

Ghostly junkyard dented chrome fenders
Secondhand confiscated scrap iron discards
Ramshackle huts dripping barbed rust
Sticky all-purpose tar holes patched

Befallen creatures looked down upon
Murky netherworld verminous breeding ground
Night crawlers scurrying for cover
Firefly torchbearers wingless glowworm grubs
